Letter to the Editor: The fair is a great place for families

A note to Old Clunker....
In case you have not noticed, the fair is livestock, tractors, rides and food vendors. It is teaching many youth how to raise animals and be kind to one another.
Our family has had a food stand at the fair for many, many years. Why do we do it? Because we love seeing the same friends year after year. We try to be conservative in our prices and we give a lot away, especially to the families who patronize us all week long.
Actually, we are a stockholder (one share) since in the 1950s. Our dividend is four passes to the fair.
Why don't you come and help us out one day and see the enjoyment you receive back from the people of Shenandoah County. Come visit us. We'd love to serve you.
P.S. Hats off to the Northern Virginia Daily for the great coverage of the fair.

The fair is like a family reunion. In todays economy it is a worthwhile investment. If we pick and choose the day we attend, there are discounts. I enjoy seeing the youngsters with their prize winning animals. I enjoy seeing FAMILIES working together - generations of the same family. Over the years, I have chosen to attend only a hand full of grandstand shows. Some are preetty pricey, but no one twists our arm to attend. For many years I was a part of the Strasburg Junior Home Demonstration Club and active in the EHC displays. I, now, for several years donate an evening of my time to demonstrate cake decorating. I will be there tonight. I look forward to this, and to people stopping by and chatting while I work. My grandkids enjoy the rides. Everyone enjoys the food. There is something for EVERYONE and it is still a bargain. Clunker, I am considered an oldster. I have received many SENIOR CITIZENS discounts over the past umpteen years, and still consider the Shenandoah County Fair a bargain. Thank you to Mr. Eshelman, Dawn and the girls in the fair office, and the board for another job well done.
