Editorial: A weekend full of fun, food, crafts
This weekend's forecast: absolutely beautiful - so get out and enjoy the sunshine, the turning of the leaves and an abundance of fall festivals in our region.
The only problem today and tomorrow may be deciding which festival to attend.
Today, Warren County's Festival of Leaves enters its 42nd year and features a parade, crafts, food and entertainment.
Over in Clarke County today and Sunday, the annual Shenandoah Valley Wine and Music Festival offers wine tasting, a beer garden, hayrides and children's activities. No hot air balloons there this year, but you will see some pumpkin chunking going on. Both festivals are fundraisers.
Then there's ArborFest today and Sunday at Blandy Experimental Farm, also in Clarke County. Expect bluegrass music, the fall plant sale and hayrides.
Mt. Jackson's Music & Harvest Festival today and Sunday will include a petting zoo, trolley rides, crafters, food and live entertainment.
These festivals are among many fall events and activities scheduled this weekend. We encourage you to get out and support the community fall fundraisers and enjoy the crisp October air, sample some hot apple cider and, while you're out, pick up a pumpkin or two or three to place beside your doorstep.
