As a parent of six children who play youth sports, I am really concerned about our county and the things the county does to promote these activities, or should I say the things the county does to try and hinder these activities.
The Little League Football Program pays our county a fee of $1,500 per year to use the game field for four home football games. We have been practicing on the field behind W.W. Robinson Elementary and recently Superintendent B. Keith Rowland contacted the president of our league to let him know that there would be an additional $750 charge to use that field.
Next Rowland will want students to pay a fee to use it every day at recess. This fee needs to be done away with. I say, as a tax-paying citizen, let them use the fields for free.
