Letter to the Editor: One chance to get it right

Editor,

Plato once said, "The punishment which the wise suffer who refuse to take part in the government, is to live under the government of worse men." My concern for America, as I love her, is that we have allowed, through our complacency, a gang of leaders to rise up and take apart this nation, one freedom and liberty at a time.

A nation can be destroyed one lie at a time. Just keep repeating the lie and eventually the people will accept it as the truth. We have a government saying just what we want to hear. We as a nation have turned from the truth. We accept lies as the truth. We say we are wise but we are a nation of fools. Hitler was a master of saying just what the people wanted to hear. To the farmers, he pledged to cut taxes and to support laws to protect food prices. To the working class, he talked of redistribution of wealth and he attacked the high profits made by business owners. The same themes this present administration is using.

As our national debt grows to unimaginable numbers, we hear this administration promoting class warfare. We are sitting idly by refusing to vote, refusing to get educated on the great issues facing this nation, refusing to speak up and be heard, and refusing to pray to God for his guidance.

As a young man of 18, I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I find no "hope" in this present administration. I need a "change" to an administration that will defend the Constitution instead of spending its time searching for ways to get around what the Constitution says.

Educate yourself on the issues. Speak up about the issues. Pray over the issues. Vote responsibly.

George T. Burgess, Maurertown

You have presented a very good description of the present condition of the USA where the Dominionist Empire Musical Chairs Party keeps boring more holes in the bottom of the sinking ship.

Many years ago I worked for a man who told us "Never bring me a problem unless you also bring me the solution in the form of a plan".

Where is your plan?

The plan is hidden in the back of the binder full of women, currently stashed in a lock-box in the Caymans. You can view it Nov 7.

Thank you, Mr. Burgess. You effusive descriptions fit Mitt Romney perfectly. May I suggest you begin your quest for truth by examining the lies already told?

The Mendacity of Mitt Romney Lying To The Teabillies

http://mittromneyliestotheteabillies.blogspot.com/

804 lies listed chronologically including comments and reference source weblinks

This list will be updated every Friday until the election.

The second Obama-Romney debate was heated, confrontational and full of claims that sometimes didn’t match the facts.

Obama challenged Romney to “get the transcript” when Romney questioned the president’s claim to have spoken of an “act of terror” the day after the slaying of four Americans in Libya. The president indeed referred to “acts of terror” that day, but then refrained from using such terms for weeks.

Obama claimed Romney once called Arizona’s “papers, please” immigration law a “model” for the nation. He didn’t. Romney said that of an earlier Arizona law requiring employers to check the immigration status of employees.

Obama falsely claimed Romney once referred to wind-power jobs as “imaginary.” Not true. Romney actually spoke of “an imaginary world” where “windmills and solar panels could power the economy.”

Romney said repeatedly he won’t cut taxes for the wealthy, a switch from his position during the GOP primaries, when he said the top 1 percent would be among those to benefit.

Romney said “a recent study has shown” that taxes “will” rise on the middle class by $4,000 as a result of federal debt increases since Obama took office. Not true. That’s just one possible way debt service could be financed.

Romney claimed 580,000 women have lost jobs under Obama. The true figure is closer to 93,000.

Romney claimed the automakers’ bankruptcy that Obama implemented was “precisely what I recommend.” Romney did favor a bankruptcy followed by federal loan guarantees, but not the direct federal aid that Obama insists was essential.

Romney said he would keep Pell Grants for low-income college students “growing.” That’s a change. Both Romney and his running mate, Ryan, have previously said they’d limit eligibility.

Somehow the Dominionist Empire Musical Chairs Party platform does not include a clause to stop borrowing money from China to fund the endless wars on everybody and everything, everywhere, including right here at home:

"Ryan's Despicable Soup Kitchen Antics A Perfect Metaphor For GOP Ticket's Disrespect For The Poor

"It turns out that by the time Congressman Ryan and his family showed up at the soup kitchen, the food had already been served, the recipients of the church’s food line had left the building, and everything had already been cleaned up. There would be little for the Congressman and his family to do but shake the hands of the few volunteers who remained at the kitchen and be on their way.

"However, never try and separate a cynical politician from a good photo opportunity."

I was glad to see Obama use his "knock out" punch for the end of the debate.

He closed with the following:

“I also believe that when he (Romney) said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims, who refuse personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about,” the president began. “Folks on Social Security who have worked all their lives. Veterans who have sacrificed for this country. Students who are out there trying to hopefully advance their own dreams, but also this country’s dreams. Soldiers who are overseas fighting for us right now. People who are working hard every day, paying payroll tax, gas tax, but don’t make enough income.”

Spotlighting that 47 percent, Obama said, “I want to fight for them and that’s what I have been doing for the last four years. Because if they succeed, I believe the country succeeds.”

So with his own words, Romney sums up his entire campaign and reminds us who he really is. Obama won the debate last night. One more to go!

Romney: "Because if there's a two parent family, the prospect of living in poverty goes down dramatically. The opportunities that the child will be able to achieve increase dramatically. So we can make changes in the way our culture works to help bring people away from violence and give them opportunity and bring them into the American system."

While standing on stage with President Obama!? Bet former President Bill Clinton had a good chuckle from this.

"Widowed at the age of 21, Martha Coston of Philadelphia (born 1826) met the challenge of providing for her four children by inventing a system of maritime signal flares that later would help the North win the Civil War." (http://www.engineering.com)

Maybe not cutting progams like Planned Parenthood might further your cause, Mr. Romney?

Maybe avoiding all of the warmongering might also reduce the number of single parents, Mr. Romney.

Yeah the whole single moms are to blame for gangbangers didn't resonate very well with the female voters in CNN's focus group. I hope the last debate goes just as well.

(Reuters) - Ann Romney told a Nevada television station her biggest concern if her husband, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, becomes president was his "mental well-being."

Oh, Ann, me too, me too. I so worry about his mental well-being especially when you see how easily he can come unglued.

Better be careful that no one upsets this poor little rich boy. He's obviously use to getting his way and can hardly contain himself when challenged. Yes, his "mental well-being" is certainly something we want to consider.

Can't you imagine how the Republicans would run with it, if the president's wife would say that?

Romney's eagerness to "fight" a war of words with China from day one sounds like a real solution to our economic problems. Maybe he and his corporate pals could stop sending jobs abroad. I do believe they would be willing to bring these jobs home if they can get the same slave
labor here.

Romney is a handsome, rich, "spoiled" George W. Bush clone who can actually put a complete sentence together. They are of the same cloth. Better watch out or your sons and daughters will be needed for the Middle East, however, you won't see the rich folk lining up.

That's funny Jane! Went through and gave some votes as well!

Diane: "Better watch out or your sons and daughters will be needed for the Middle East..."

Diane, Did you see/hear Ann Romney's response to 'The View' host Whoopi Goldberg's question to Ann Romney about her men re the military?

"The wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Thursday said that her husband and sons had not joined the U.S. military but had found “different ways of serving” by going on religious missions in France, England, Australia and Chile as part of their obligation to the Mormon church.

Mitt Romney announced earlier this week that he had canceled his Thursday appearance on The View due to “scheduling problems.”

In a secretly-recorded video released by Mother Jones last month, the former Massachusetts governor told wealthy donors that going on The View was a “high-risk” proposition because the “sharp-tongued” co-hosts were not conservative enough.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/10/18/ann-romney-mormon-missions-and-u-s-military-are-different-ways-of-serving/

Oh Brother! If Romney can't handle the ladies on The View, how is he going to deal with heads of state that don't agree with his every desire.

49 New Romney Lies This Week

As of Friday 10-19-2012, the number of Mitt Romney lies since January 2012 has reached 853 and counting.

The Mendacity of Mitt Romney Lying To The Teabillies

http://mittromneyliestotheteabillies.blogspot.com/

bigbird, repetition produces boredom and broken records produce irritation.

Oh yes Big Bird, you really do need to stop trying to educate people to the reality of the smuck otherwise known as Willard.

The Teabillies find themselves embarrassed that they are unable to combat facts with more lies and far right conspiracy theories, it is rather damning to their cause.

I mean, they need those angry white male voters to help put a white man back in the WH. Its difficult enough a candidate suffering from flip-flop-osis, your persistence is just too much for them to take. (*Good Work!! btw)

* schmuck even.
