Letter to the Editor: Our Health Inc. partners aid efforts to help those in need

For the past five months the Our Health Inc. team has had the privilege to partner with Groves Winchester Harley-Davidson to sell raffle tickets for a 2012 Heritage Soft-tail Harley. It is through events such as this that Our Health and its partner agencies are able to raise the money needed to sustain our efforts to help those in need.

As you may know, conducting a raffle requires a longtime commitment of employees and board members to sell enough tickets to make the raffle a success. Our Health is fortunate to have an amazing team of support from the board, staff and volunteers. We also could not have done this without the generous support of our sponsors: Groves Winchester Harley-Davidson, Sure-Bright Services Inc., and Sheriff Lenny Millholland. Our congratulations go to Dale Massey of Winchester, who won the motorcycle and a huge thanks to everyone who supported our raffle by buying tickets. Also, to Concern Hotline, we say thanks for allowing us to partner with them at their Fish Fry on Sept. 7 to sell the remaining tickets and conduct the drawing. It is a distinguishing feature of this community that we work together, in tandem with one another, to enrich the lives of the people we seek to care for and to serve. We each know that it is only through collaboration that great things can be achieved!

Plans are under way to begin a yearlong 10th Anniversary Celebration of the opening of Our Health's "Dr. Robert G. Kendall Community Campus." We are thrilled about the progress made on the campus in those 10 years - starting with five campus agencies in 2003 to 16 agencies and more than 30,000 client visits annually today. It is clear that this community has been well served by the forward thinking of the founders to provide a safe, attractive and affordable location for services.

Most importantly, we are extremely fortunate to live in a community where so many people work and give generously to serve the needs of others. Without this giving community spirit, we could not be successful.

Sharon Gromling, Winchester
