Letter to the Editor: We have many things to be thankful for
In a world where so many people are discouraged, disappointed, and hope seems so far away, let us look for things to be thankful for. We live in a country where we still have our freedom for the most part and can still worship the God we believe in. Let us be thankful. I know full well millions of Americans were stunned at the outcome of the election, but we must move on. Remember who is really in charge. Believing in our lord Jesus Christ will get you into heaven. Obama cannot do that.
I had the golden opportunity again this year to attend a meeting at Triplett Tech in Shenandoah County, and what a wonderful experience that was. We are very blessed to have this fine institution in our area. The staff there does such a spectacular job in preparing our young people for the real world. A wonderful preparation of food was served by the culinary department, and to see the fine job all departments are doing was heart-warming. Shenandoah County is truly blessed to have a facility like this in our midst. We have had children and grandchildren who have or are attending school and have received the best education offered. Two have attended Triplett and two are currently enrolled.
Another blessing we have is the Wayside Theatre. This institution is such an asset to our valley. If you get the opportunity to see the performance that is currently on stage, please don't miss it. "Glory Bea, A Shenandoah Christmas Story" is based on a Christmas here in the Shenandoah Valley during the Depression. This play is one that you truly don't want to miss. If you are like me and have lived here many years without patronizing the theatre, let this be an opportunity for you. You can go in with the weight of the world on your shoulders and come out refreshed.
