Letter to the Editor: Two Christmas treats!
This past week I had the opportunity to experience two fabulous and heart-warming Christmas programs.
The first was the Front Royal Community Band's annual Christmas concert on Dec. 11. The music was varied, and all of it was delightful. It was a real walk down memory lane for me since my late father, Godfrey "Gim" Boyd, was a charter member of the band. One of his favorite songs to play was "Sleigh Ride," which ended this year's concert. He would have been very proud of the band for its outstanding concert. If you didn't attend this year, put it on your calendar for 2013.
The second treat was Dec. 15 at Wayside Theater. I took my 6-year old grandson and 7-year-old granddaughter to see the current production of "Glory Bea." What a treat! The story with a local setting is well-crafted; the singing and acting were excellent. When I purchased the tickets, the woman I talked with said it was for ages 3 to 103 - and she was right. If you haven't seen this production yet, be sure to get there.
So, thank you to both groups for wonderful early Christmas presents to all of us.
