Many times we as individuals look upon our local government with the idea that they are not there for the people. Recently, our church went through a building process that was not like most building projects. Volunteers from all over the United States converged on Strasburg for a five-week building process. Now the local building department was not really understanding the whole process of this endeavor. However, I scheduled a meeting with the code official, building department head and the field inspector. I made them fully aware that we would do everything within our power to comply with the codes that were instituted by the government.
Our local field inspector was Tim Ferguson, who truly was an asset to our project. I asked him if he could stop by every day just in case we had any questions that we were not sure of. So, every day we would see Mr. Ferguson. Many days there were no questions, but the wealth of his knowledge helped us in ways to cross bridges that we would not have even considered. Rather than waiting to a final inspection of everything, he would give us "heads up" on things that we could correct even before the final. His knowledge helped us get through some things that we were having a problem dealing with.
I will honestly say that Shenandoah County is blessed to have Tim Ferguson as a building inspector. I enjoyed working with the Zoning Department, Building Department, and fire marshall. They helped us through this process and we at Liberty Baptist want to thank them and I personally commend Tim Ferguson on the fine job he did for us.
