Letter to the Editor: How can a few flowers hurt Front Royal?

Editor:

I am writing because I recently became upset over the town making people take down roadside memorials.

I think the town's time could be better spent trying to get people to keep their property clean and clutter-free. They should get rid of people's junk cars and trash, and fix the potholes in the roads.

How can a few flowers hurt the town - If it comforted the families that had lost a love one and the landowner doesn't mind? I passed by that corner on Shenandoah Avenue and I saw nothing wrong with it. You could easily see over it.

I think what the town served no purpose other than to add more grief to the families that have lost someone. We have many more problems in this town than a few flowers on the roadside.

I have lived here all my life and the town never has stopped confusing me with most of the things they do. At times they seem to be going backward, or in no direction at all.

All I can say is, shame on the town.

Rick Hunley, Front Royal
