Letter to the Editor: Support Wayside Theatre
Once again I feel I must comment on Wayside Theater and what it means not only to me but the town of Middletown and this end of the Shenandoah Valley. As I said before, I lived here about 30 years or more before I discovered what I had missed.
If every business in America had employees like the people at Wayside we would not be sold out to China and Mexico and other countries. Having been in business for over 35 years I do know dedicated people when I see them. Everybody at Wayside goes way beyond what they really have to do to keep it afloat. The people on stage are some of the best you can see.
The play running now is a must see. It is filled with humor, quotes from the bible, as well as good old southern gospel music. It leaves you with a good feeling. Even if you go in down and out, it will perk you up.
Perhaps you think of the theatre as a stiff neck, tuxedo, bow tie affair as I did for many years. Nothing could farther from the truth. You can go in with jeans, shorts, T-shirt and feel right at home.
It is sad to see a hard working business struggling when billions of dollars are spent on so many things that are not necessary in our society.
I urge you to support this theatre as much as possible. If a redneck from West Virginia like me can enjoy it, so can you.
