In response to the letter in the Northern Virginia Daily, "Sequester makes heavy demands on federal workers," it is true that cuts under sequestration place a burden on federal employees, particularly Defense Department employees and their contractors.
Defense is carrying a disproportionally larger portion of such cuts. The Republicans, including U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte, have tried to rebalance that inequity.
Painting Goodlatte as an adversary to federal workers is unfair. He has voted twice to change the way these cuts are made (the Senate never did anything), but I agree with him that we have to do something to stop the spending in Washington or the country will suffer far more. Perhaps we should look to our president to put forward and defend a budget which we can all debate instead of a sequester gimmick.
