Letter to the Editor: Bush did lie about WMDs
I would remind Mr. Hughes that the Bush administration did not say that there may be WMDs, rather they stated emphatically that they knew they were and where they were located. If that doesn't qualify as an outright lie, nothing does.
As for Thomas Young, he and hundreds of Iraq veterans were outspoken opponents of the war for a decade. Far from being exploited, he spoke out on his own. After suffering for 10 years, his dying wish is to have his opinions on the war given the largest circulation possible before he pays the ultimate price for defending his country. No reasonable or compassionate person would deny him that right.
Bash liberals all you want Mr. Hughes, but if the Supreme Court hadn't intervened and ensured the election of Bush, 4,500 Americans would still be alive and thousands of veterans would not be suffering from debilitating injuries for the rest of their lives, and our country's security would not have been compromised one iota.
