Letter to the Editor: Gun control vs. abortion

Editor:

It is amazing that after all the mass shootings at Virginia Tech, Columbine, and in the schools and on our playgrounds where 6- and 7-year-old children are murdered that now people want gun control. I have no problem with this. After all, I do not think assault rifles should be on the streets. While I would not have one, I am not judging. God will do that.

But what I do have a problem with is that guns do not kill unborn babies. Abortion is the shedding of innocent blood, whether you want to believe it or not. Unborn babies are human. At about 6.2 weeks their heart beat is detected.

Jeremiah 1(5): "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."

According to Vine's Expository Dictionary, sanctified means to be holy, to be treated with special care as a procession of God. So how can anyone say that they are not humans and lawful to murder? Do you think that God would go to this length if he did not have a purpose? If this is your belief, so be it. I am not judging you. On the last day I will not be your judge, God will do that.

It was estimated in 2011 that 3,700 unborn babies were murdered a day. That comes to 1,350,000 babies a year. That is more than the soldiers who were killed in four wars. Total: 617,000. These soldiers died defending our country.

Did you know that the bald eagle and its eggs are better protected than unborn babies? I find it so disturbing that animals are better protected than our unborn babies.
