Letter to the Editor: Shenandoah supervisors should not raise taxes

Editor:

Seriously? The Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors is determined to raise taxes, and I say no, no, no!

According to the Northern Virginia Daily's story on March 28, "Supervisor David Ferguson said it comes down to choosing what to fund and then determining the tax rate needed to achieve those goals."

Real life does not work like that Mr. Ferguson. The rest of us have to figure out what we have and how far we can stretch it. Once it's stretched, that's it. There is no more. Many seniors have to choose medicine over food or visa versa. A humidifier for the sick baby or shoes for the older child.

My back porch is falling off the house and has been for the last four years, and I can't afford a new sturdy one because I have to pay the ridiculous water bills. So, I buy another box of screws!

Citizens are not the well with which to fill the county's bucket. Roll up you sleeves and make the hard decisions like the rest of us!
