Letter to the Editor: Politicians cause many problems

Editor:

In response to Mr. Rigelon's letters and columns in the paper, I would like to give my opinion. He seems to want to bash Christians and Republicans, especially George W. Bush, for all the problems. In my opinion, it seems like the politicians seem to cause most of the problems. They care more about the party and getting re-elected than they do for us.

Sure, George W. Bush wasn't perfect, but nobody is. We all make mistakes. If all politicians were to take the middle of the road and think more about all Americans than the party, we would have a lot better government for America.

Also, is it right for Congress to be controlled by lobbying groups? They seem to be in control. Sure, we really need big business for jobs and products, but I don't think they should control the legislative branch of the government. I think if we knew what went on behind closed doors with them, we would know that bribery is a powerful tool with them. That should be considered a crime, which it really is.

Next, how about the affordable health care act? U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi stood in front of the House and said we need to vote for this bill so we can find out what is in it. Is it right for our legislative branch and the pPresident to pass this bill when they don't even know what it is? They seem to tack on to any bill things that will benefit them or only the people they have in their voting areas. Whether we will admit it or not, this country is run by a corrupt bunch of politicians.

Last of all, don't bash me for being a Christian and a middle of the road independent. I have served this country for four years in the U.S. Marines Corp and 22 years as a police officer. I vote in all elections and I send my opinions to congressmen. I can't think of any other thing I can do, but I feel like I have done my share.
