Letter to the Editor: We need jobs, revenue in Shenandoah County
Mechanized farming and new methods of farming as well as clothing factories moving overseas have eliminated many jobs in Shenandoah County. We need to get jobs. We need more revenue in the county to stabilize taxes.
We need to eliminate any threat of civil suit involving discrimination and preferential treatment of farm or land banks and business.
Our chairman of the Shenandoah County of Supervisors or designate and one of our local Congressional representatives or designate could meet with an executive of the U. S. Department of Commerce or U. S. Chamber of Commerce for help in securing a department store such as Macy’s, Burlington Mills and a German restaurant.
Such action would eliminate the threat of a civil suit, benefit the county’s economy, stabilize taxes and attract tourist and visitors.
