Letter to the Editor: Church is spreading the Gospel

Editor:

I read with interest Donna Quarton's letter to the editor on Aug. 6 regarding New New Hope Bible Church's decision to disallow the Boy Scouts from meeting there based on the Boy Scouts' decision to support homosexuality.

The Boy Scouts having changed their position on this issue after more than 100 years! Have the Boy Scouts been wrong for the last 100 years? I don't think so!

Quarton intimates that New Hope is "turning their backs on the Gospel" and I submit that nothing could be further from the truth!

What is the Gospel? Let's turn to that most precious of books and see. "...the gospel of Christ is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes..." Romans 1:16. What society has been doing is defining deviancy down, normalizing the deviant to accommodate our country's moral decay!

No one from New Hope appears to be "judging" anyone! God, in his word, has judged the sin of homosexuality, as he has judged my sins, which I don't care to elaborate on in this letter!

New Hope seems to be trying to follow the mandates of the scriptures, which will aid their mission in spreading the Gospel, not hinder it! And I applaud them for it.
