Letter to the Editor: Vote for Democrats this November
The tea party is ruining our country. Here are some of their views: they are anti-women’s and minorities rights, anti-government, anti-public schools, anti-working on climate control. They want to go back to the early 20th century. They have no new ideas to counter all of their objections. The tea party runs inexperienced, incompetent and unyielding candidates for office.
Luckily, we have three Democratic candidates for state offices. Terry McAuliffe for governor, Ralph Northam for lieutenant governor and Mark Herring for attorney general. Two of them are experienced state legislators and McAuliffe has had much experience in politics.
The Republicans have put up three candidates for state offices who are in sympathy with the tea party. We need people with fresh ideas, not people who will not move the state forward.
We are very lucky to have a local candidate for District 4 of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors. She is a Democrat running against a tea party candidate and a Republican. Her name is Emily Scott. She is intelligent, articulate, has good ideas and is a native of Shenandoah County.
The tea party is not in line with our basic values. Its members do not look forward, but backward. We need candidates who will look ahead and not behind.
Therefore, I urge you to vote for these Democratic candidates in the November election.
