Editorial: Say 'yes' for the kids

A skateboarders park for Strasburg? What an awesome idea!

Such a park would help get kids and their boards off the streets and sidewalks, where they face the danger of getting hit by cars, falling and injuring themselves, or slamming into a pedestrian in their path.

Strasburg Police Chief Tim Sutherly and resident Jennifer Williams are spearheading the effort to build the "Tribute to Trent Skate Park." The park would be in memory of Williams' son Trent, who died last year after a battle with cancer.

The organizers have a lot of work to do if they want to open it by April 29, which is Trent's and his twin brother's birthday. Land must be purchased, funds must be raised, and then it has to be built.

If you're asked to get involved in some way with this worthwhile project for the town's kids -- whether it be through a donation or your time, please say yes.
