Letter to the Editor: Vote for Bailey and Shruntz

This Board of Supervisors will be remembered for treating the citizens of Shenandoah County like mushrooms — kept in the dark and fed what they think we need.

What have we done to deserve such treatment? It is because we dare to question them in public? Or because we doubt their compulsion to roll up the county’s debt limit and resist their frequent calls for higher taxation?

Tuesday will be an opportunity to turn this tide of “take it and like it government.”

The election of Cindy Bailey and Marsha Shruntz will not only put two fresh voices on the Board of Supervisors, but will send a resounding message to the other board members. We desperately need to take that step as efforts to increase our property taxes are under consideration.

The polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please join me in supporting citizen-controlled government and vote for Bailey in District 4 and Shruntz in District 5.
