Letter to the Editor: Vote for Shruntz and Bailey

For the people of Shenandoah County, Monday was another bad day for the county Board of Supervisors as tax bills appeared in our mail boxes. Their arrival was a bitter reminder of the run-away spending of this board and their love affair with borrowing, and the snowballing of taxes to pay for their version of an expanded government. It is time for Shenandoah County citizens to stand up to this misguided government.

One local media source has already reported that the board is looking to take an additional $500,000 from our pockets. Undoubtedly, this will come from increases in our personal property taxes. The same report notes an anticipated 5 cent increase in real estate taxes, the bulk of which will be needed to operate the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail in Front Royal.

Tuesday will be a day for choosing in Shenandoah County. We can send a message of outrage and frustration that we have had our fill of this board's insensitivity, and we will do it our way, and that the people are in command of our and our children's and grandchildren's future .

Please vote for change. Vote for Marsha Shruntz and Cindy Bailey.

Gerald Miller, Woodstock
