Letter to the Editor: Vote for Karen Whetzel

Editor:

The purpose of the letter is to fully support the re-election of Karen Whetzel to the Shenandoah County School Board, District 1.

She has proven to me over the years to be highly professional in her involvement as a teacher, school administrator, Shenandoah County Public Schools administrator and Shenandoah County School Board member. As a former education volunteer at Stonewall Jackson High School, I observed first hand Karen's ability to lead and set high standards for quality education as school principal.

Through her leadership, teachers were committed to ensure that every student did not fail. Consequently, students received a quality education to prepare them for work after graduation or acceptance to a post graduate school to further their education.

Over the past three years I have had the opportunity to observe and be part of Whetzel's commitment as a School Board member to the Shenandoah County Public Schools. Based on her experience in the past as teacher and school administrator, she brought a wealth of information and experience to the School Board to effectively and proficiently educate students in Shenandoah County.

Her dedication to maintain high standards in education in the county is untiring, and her support of county teachers and school staff is unwavering. Whetzel is highly competent and deserves another three years as Shenandoah School Board Member, District 1.

John Slifka, former school administrator, Fairfax County Public Schools
