Patriotism is dead. Social order doesn't justify American nationalism any longer. We lack faith in capitalism, our republic, and our elected officials. Once we waiver our American identity, we lose what holds our nation together.
What's wrong with flying a flag in the front yard, focusing on politics, or even thanking a veteran for his or her service when walking through the store?
America's international presence has been skewed by the media, forcing everyone to believe we're ensuing violence where we are promoting peace.
Our wealthy are portrayed as greedy aristocrats, when in reality they are well educated, hard working individuals who are essential to the lives of the middle class. Even religious expression is frowned upon because you may be a burden to one's own beliefs.
America has been one to take care of its own, but lately, I've been seeing different. Instead of focusing our full attention to outside influences that criticize our way of life, let's appreciate what we have to offer.
Our history is rich in triumph, justice, and resiliency. We contain one of the most diverse populations full of different foods, art, music, sports, etc. Our landscapes reach from the Everglades, to mountainous Montana, and God bless the rare freedoms we have to do whatever we need to do to succeed.
The truth is that we are envied around the world. Some disagree with our way of life, but the basic human need for freedom, and opportunity can be found in the United States of America. Step back, and take a moment after reading this to appreciate how lucky you are to be able to live here, and do what you can to keep it going.
