It is too bad that most of the general public feels that they have to vote a strict party ticket just because they always have. None of the parties have all the best or most qualified people, or would best serve the public. My father used to study the political position and then the qualifications of each person running for that position and vote for him or her regardless of party.
It is no secret that the people of the Shenandoah Valley tend to lean heavily toward the Republican side of our state and nation. This same lean is evident in most of the articles that appear on the Opinion page of your newspaper. There are a lot of good, honest, intelligent "closet" Democrats in our valley as well who may feel they are being ignored by the Daily.
Our Virginia is becoming more and more Democratic in its outlook. Our new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general want to revitalize our logjammed General Assembly. So far they have accomplished a lot, but we have seen no positive articles in the Daily. All of the people in our area, regardless of their political affiliation, are entitled to complete and honest information about what is going on in Virginia state politics. Surely it would improve your readership.
