Letter to the Editor: Prohibitions feed anti-social tendencies

Black is white, wrong is right.

At a recent group meeting at the District 11 Probation and Parole P Office, those of us required, under penalty of imprisonment to attend, were informed that we, because of the label imposed upon us by "society" -- ie. sex offenders, could be penalized for rescuing a child from a burning house/car etc. or stopping to render assistance to someone, particularly female, broken down on the side of the road.

How do these prohibitions benefit society? Do these prohibitions not feed the narcissistic/anti-social tendencies that got many of us in trouble to start with? How are we to reintegrate into society when we are being "programmed" to continue to act in anti-social manners?

Brian R. Chapman, Winchester
