Letter to the Editor: Waggin for Dragons will become annual event
I would like to thank everyone in the community who worked together to make the Inaugural Waggin’ for Dragons dragon boat race to benefit the Humane Society of Warren County a huge success.
This event would not have been possible without the support of: Holiday Inn & Suites Front Royal, Blue Ridge Shadows, Warren Count government, Parks and Recreation, Front Royal Golf Club, town of Front Royal, Bill Powers State Farm, Barry Lee of WINC FM, Wizards of Realty, Shenandoah Communications, Weathervane Graphics, Target, The Blue Winged Frog, Naughty Girls Donuts, Lowe’s, Jean’s Jewelers, Northern Virginia Daily, Roger Vorous, Mayor Tim Darr, Fotos by Franzi, Warren County Fire and Rescue, Sheree Jennings, Marc Bower, Nate Trussell, Bob McMillian, Front Royal Rotary, and the HSWC Volunteers and W4D Planning Committee Members.
Due to the generosity and commitment of the eight competing teams (Edward Jones, Ellen Aders State Farm, Mimslyn Inn, 2 The Dogs, Morris’ Marauders, Weichert’s Closers, River Dawgs, and Diesel the Country Dog) and our title sponsors (Shenandoah Ford and the Petco Foundation), Waggin for Dragons was a profitable fundraiser and will become an annual event that helps us to sustain and achieve our goal of being a no-kill open admission shelter. On behalf of all of those animals whose lives will be spared because of your participation in this event, I thank you.
Lavenda Denney, executive director, Humane Society of Warren County
