Letter to the Editor: Fundamentalist gobble-de gook
With all due respect to Pastor Pastor Harold Wetzel, his response to my comments in the Northern Virginia Daily regarding homosexuality are nothing more than fundamentalist gobble-de gook quoting the Bible when it suits him and ignoring it when it doesn’t. With that in mind, allow me to do the same.
Matt. 7:1-2. JUDGE not that ye may be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Matt. 7:5. Thou hypocrite! First cast out the beam out of thine own eye: and then thou shalt see clearly to cast the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
Matt 7:12. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law of the prophets.
With this exchange of opinions, one can see the stark difference between religious fundamentalism and secular humanism. On the one hand, Wetzel would deny homosexuals a place in his “kingdom of heaven,” while we humanists welcome all human beings, no matter their ethnicity, race, gender or sexual orientation into our family. That is what is called being fully human.
