Letter to the Editor: Kudos to all who helped on backpack drive
As our children head back to school for another year of learning and personal development, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank those in the Sheriff’s Office and Shenandoah schools for a very successful backpack drive.
The planning for this drive began months ago with the goal of putting a brand new backpack, full of grade-level appropriate supplies, in the hands of every child who needed one. Over 590 backpacks were distributed!
I especially want to mention the noble efforts of school resource officers who, not just during this drive, but all school year long, protect and encourage students as they face each day in school. There is no greater indicator of future success than a successful education. I am sure this community is proud of all of you who took part in this drive.
