Letter to the Editor: Candidate should have attended forum

In a Sept. 22 letter to the Northern Virginia Daily, Mike Wakeman, candidate for District 2 supervisor, stressed the importance of listening to constituents.  He offered that the lack of listening has been a major failure of current members of the Board of Supervisors.

Yet we have learned that he refused to participate in an open forum on Oct. 7 where District 2 citizens would be able to ask him questions about things of importance to them.  What person running for office would exclude himself from such an opportunity to hear from the people in his district?  There is no excuse for not doing so. Contrary to his comments about listening to people his actions prove otherwise.

Steve Baker was at this forum as he has been for citizens in his district during his tenure.  He will continue to move our county forward, support education, and really mean it when he says he will listen to his constituents.
