Letter to the Editor: Stop the insanity
Election mania is in full swing. Soon it will be over and the promises made by the politicians will be just as soon forgotten and broken.
One person running for Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors is not a politician. Mike Wakeman is a local businessman, and political novice. Like myself, Mr. Wakeman is a lifelong resident of Shenandoah County. He didn’t just drive through the valley one day and decide this would be a good place to escape the rat race of northern Virginia. He grew up here, fished valley streams and hunted in valley woods. He cares about this valley and the people in it.
I’m not so sure the same can be said for certain members of the current board members. Year after year they have built buildings that taxpayers don’t want and spent money that taxpayers can’t afford, leading to an ever-increasing tax burden on the good people of Shenandoah County. It’s either ironic or sinister that the only year we see some tax relief is in an election year.
Someone once said that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over, expecting different results! It’s time to stop the insanity of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors. It’s time for some non-politicians to be given the chance to lead.
