Letter to the Editor: Why is lawmaker against expanding Medicaid?

Editor:

Expanding Medicaid to Virginia’s poor would create between 27,000 and 49,000 jobs.  Todd Gilbert is against that.
Not expanding Medicaid in Virginia adds a hidden tax on the rest of us who need hospital care by increasing the cost of that care in order to pay for the cost of caring for those without insurance.  Todd Gilbert is for that.
Not expanding Medicaid in Virginia sends our tax money to other states that have expanded Medicaid to help them cover their costs.  Todd Gilbert is for that.
Not expanding Medicaid in Virginia is causing some rural hospitals to close.  Todd Gilbert is for that.
The Virginia hospitals put forth a plan to pay taxes to the state if the state would use that money to then expand Medicaid and thereby cost the state nothing to do so.  Todd Gilbert is against that.
Makes you wonder what happened to Todd Gilbert’s brain.
