Letter to the Editor: Kudos to steering committee members
As the work of the Boundary Adjustment Steering Committee closed out with Djong-Richter’s formal presentation of the Option C proposal on Feb. 25, I want to extend a most sincere “thank you” to those who participated.
The purpose of the steering committee was to work in conjunction with the retained third party consulting firm of Djong-Richter to facilitate the actual shift in boundaries once it was voted upon by the School Board in November 2015 after months of educational impact analysis, community input, division-gathered data analysis and financial consideration.
The time invested by the diverse group of 24 community members and school staff was tremendous. The effort dedicated to poring over and analyzing data was beyond impressive, all leading to a comprehensive and clear solution thanks to the quality of work on the part of the steering committee.
Thank you to those who came with an open mind and those who consciously worked through the process with the purpose of productivity. With great resolve, the committee participated in an extremely sensitive, complex, but necessary change for Shenandoah County. I thank them for their commitment and dedication to the steering committee.
Katie Freakley, School Board member, District 4
