Letter to the Editor: Homes found for cats left alone
This letter is written to thank the Northern Virginia Daily for the article published recently about three cats that were living in an empty house. The owner had passed away right before cold weather started. Two kind neighbors took the cats under their wings and fed them and made sure they had warm beds, food and even vet care.
When we approached your newspaper with the sad story, you immediately sent a reporter to tell the story of three cats that could not understand why they were suddenly alone. Shortly after the story ran, wonderful homes were found for all three cats.
Families should always try to make arrangements ahead of time for their pets – especially if they live alone – as it is extremely hard on well-loved animals to suddenly be without their owners. Again, we as rescuers thank you for helping to bring this situation to light and to help us place these well-loved cats in new homes.
