Letter to the Editor: How is money for schools being spent?

Editor:

The Shenandoah County School Board has submitted a budget of $10,466 per student. Tuition at James Madison University is $10,066 (for two semesters).

I can send my grandson to an accredited Virginia college for $400 less than it costs for two semesters in Shenandoah County Public Schools.

The School Board claims that the quality of education suffers from a lack of funding. It is time for a serious look at how our tax dollars are being spent. Exactly where is our money going? Certainly our teachers are not over paid. Maybe we have too many administrative positions making too much money.
