Letter to the Editor: Kudos to the arts council
We want to thank Kym Crump, the executive director of Front Royal’s Blue Ridge Arts Council, for her help and expertise in partnering with us in Celebrating Patricia Windrow Day, 2016, and extend our thanks to the board and membership of the arts council as well.
By sharing our energies and resources, together we were able:
1) To mount an exhibition of paintings at the arts council by the late Patricia Windrow.
2) To overhaul the arts council’s 1924 Baldwin grand piano with a campaign that raised almost $4,000 and that gave it a new piano key action and professional bench.
3) To showcase the first Patricia Windrow Young Artist Awards. The three young Warren County winners, Selei Buracker, who is a senior, and Mikayla Michaels and Zoe Ris, both newly graduated, were thrilled to receive their prize money and to see their work hanging in a professional setting.
We look forward to working on future projects with the Blue Ridge Arts Council that promote the appreciation and support of the arts and of artists in Warren County.
G. Sue Riner-Biggs, chairman, The Patricia Windrow Arts Committee, Front Royal
