Letter to the Editor: Respect the office of the president

Editor:
“Trump Lashes Out . . .” is the headline in the New York Times. Imagine for a moment that he were president and got slighted or bested somehow on the international stage by an international leader. Just let that thought linger a moment . . .

For my friends who are considering voting for Donald Trump, I ask that you consider instead voting to respect the office of the president of the United States. The Editorial Board of The Arizona Republic endorsed Secretary Hillary Clinton for that office because they respect the office of the president. They wrote: “The challenges the United States faces domestically and internationally demand a steady hand, a cool head and the ability to think carefully before acting. Hillary Clinton understands this. Donald Trump does not.”

That paper has never since its inception in 1890 endorsed a Democrat. They respect the office of the president of the United States. The Dallas Morning News, which has not endorsed a Democrat for president since World War II, has done the same. I pray you do, too.
