Letter to the Editor: God heard our prayers for America

Editor:

Now that the mudslinging is over, it’s time to put politics aside and get down to the real issues at hand. Our great country might have another chance to be great again. But it cannot come from Washington alone, it must come from the church as well as every praying Christian in America. Granted every organization needs a good leader, whether it be a mom and pop business, a church or like our great land of millions of people.

We have to believe that prayer is giving us another chance. This is not only my take but other Christians as well. I firmly believe God heard the millions of prayers said for this great land. If the same was done throughout the country as was done from the Bible-believing churches in this area, then that is what I have to believe.

One person compared our situation with 1 and 2 Samuel in the Old Testament. The Israelites asked for a king and since God gave us free will their request was granted, knowing full well it was not in their best interest. Then along came David to bring them back. Now I am not comparing President-elect Donald Trump to David as of yet. We will have to wait and see. I have children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at stake.

This is a plea for every Christian to keep praying for America like never before. Pray for our new leaders, pray for their wisdom, pray for their discernment in every decision they make. We might not have another chance like this. The whole world was watching us and still is. America has reached out to the world, we have been a leader and can be again. The church does not need to be politically correct but do what the Bible says. It is our owner’s manual written by the greatest author of all times, God himself.

Don’t take my word for it, look at history. Please, we might not have another chance.
