Letter to the Editor: Bill would get rid of group suits

Editor:

Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act of 2017 would “keep baseless class action suits away from innocent parties,” according to U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte.

Funnny that the courts already have a way of certifying class action suits that accomplishes just that goal.  Yet, what this bill would accomplish is getting rid of class action lawsuits against corporations that cause harm to its consumers altogether.

If it passes we will no longer be able to join with others harmed by the same company to sue them as a group.  We will have to sue them alone, which is not affordable.

This bill protects corporations not people. This bill makes it much more likely that corporations will create and sell more defective products and services since they will not be held accountable. Makes one wonder who Bob Goodlatte is working for in Congress.  It certainly is not the people who voted for him.
