Letter to the Editor: Support county’s students, vo-tech

Recently, a student from Triplett Tech and a Destination Imagination Virginia state winning team from Ashby Lee Elementary School competed at the national level with success.  These representatives of excellence in vocational and technical skills often go unheralded in the Shenandoah County school hierarchy of emphasis and funding.

The incumbent District 1 supervisor has stated that vo-tech needs to be expanded and funded but has done nothing in 17 years on the job to effect this.

We are fortunate to have a Republican supervisor candidate in District 1, who happens to be a certified teacher.  Karen Kwiatkowski is retired Air Force, a farmer, a mother and a grandmother and is committed to excellence in education in Shenandoah County.

We must support the motivated and high achieving students here in our county, including those in vocational education.
