Letter to the Editor: Old woman cares about town

Once again I talked to the old woman who is concerned about Strasburg, her hometown. She tells me things I’d like to share with you.

She said: “Did you read the Northern Virginia Daily Thursday, April 12. Why would someone complain about the sign in that window?” Oh, yes the town did give her a 90-day waiver, and they are still discussing the matter, so she’s OK for now.

Now, make a left off Massanutten Street at the light and compare her window to the whole wall there on the left and see the woman with the blue hair and her family.

She said: “I’m getting old and hope I live to see how the ordinance committee could compare her window to that wall.”

She said: “What the heck. If it gives businesses a boost, why gag at a gnat and swallow a camel?” Gnat being the window and camel the wall.

She remembers when living in Strasburg was like living in Mayberry. The living was easy, but progress comes with a price.

Good luck, Ms. McMains, she thinks your window just might make her come in for breakfast.

I think I’ll close for now before someone guesses who the old woman is. I sure hope to talk to her again. She seems to really care about Strasburg.
