Letter to Editor: The cruelty of Donald Trump

In November of last year, a 39-year-old mother and her 6-yea-old daughter arrived in the United States after fleeing the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

A few days later immigration officials transferred the child to a Chicago facility and locked up the mother in San Diego.

At a recent Conservative Political Action conference, President Trump recited an anti-immigration fable in which a menacing snake kills a kind-hearted woman.

There was an earlier president, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who spoke differently. He  addressed the Daughters of the American Revolution with this memorable line, “Remember, remember always, that all of us, you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.”
