If you are a regular visitor to the Opinion section a nvdaily.com/opinion, you may have noticed a few changes on that Web page. There you will find our submission policy, reader letters, commentary and editorials. The newest addition is syndicated columnists.

I don't know about you, but I've had enough of this cold weather. I want spring to be here sooner rather than later, regardless of what a groundhog predicts today.

I would have run several letters to the editor in this space today, but, alas, they're sitting in draft status in our print/online publishing system. The reason - we couldn't reach the authors to verify the letters.

I would love to see letters to the editor every day on our Comment section, but I don't get enough in to set aside one corner of the page for them on a daily basis. What's up with that?

Do you have a hobby or expertise in something that you'd like to share with our readers? If so, we may have some space in our paper and online for a guest column written by you.
We'd like a six month commitment, and a column at least once a month. I expect response to this invitation will be great, so there's going to be some competition. I'm going to select five or six of the best columns to kick off this project.

It has always bothered me to see wire copy on the front of our Valley Scene section. It just didn't make sense to me to see a story with a Sacramento, Calif., dateline on a section that is called Valley Scene - even though Sacramento is actually located in a valley.
