Best Beer Bread Ever
|
|
3 c. self- rising flour
¼ c. sugar
1 (12 oz.) can beer, room temperature
1 egg, beaten
1 T. water
2 T. butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In bowl, combine flour, sugar and beer; just mix until well blended. Spoon into a 9x3 inch loaf pan. To give a nice glaze, combine egg and water; brush top of loaf with the mixture. Bake for 40-45 minutes. When removing loaf from oven, brush top with melted butter. You can choose any beer you like in this recipe. I've found that Guiness works very well, as does a lighter beer. For variation, you can add carraway seeds.
If you don't have self-rising flour, you can use 1 c. flour, 1 ½ tsp. baking powder and ½ tsp. salt for each cup of flour.
