Shirley's Black Walnut Cake

2 c. flour
1 ½ c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder

Mix together and make hole in middle and add:
½ c. Mazola oil, 7 egg yolks, 2 tsp. vanilla and ¾ c. cold water. Mix at least 3-4 minutes. It starts out dark yellow and turns light. Fold in 1 ½ c. black walnuts. Beat 7 egg whites and add ½ tsp. cream of tartar. Fold egg whites into yellow batter. Bake 325 degrees in unfloured tube pan for 50 minutes on bottom shelf; then at 350 degrees for 15 minutes more. Remove from oven, turn pan upside down and cool for 1 ½ hours. This is like a chiffon cake.
