Apple Walnut Cobbler

4 c. thinly sliced apples
1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. margarine, melted
1/4 c. finely chopped walnuts
Spread apples evenly in a 9x13 greased pan. Combine 1/2 c. of sugar, cinnamon and coarsely chopped nuts. Sprinkle over apples. Combine flour, 1 c. sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir well and set aside. Combine egg, milk and butter. Mix well, add flour mixture, beating until smooth. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with the 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
You can add some raisins with apples if desired. You can warm in the microwave and add ice cream or milk on top.
