German Chocolate Ooey-Gooey Butter Cake

1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 c. butter, melted & divided
1 large egg
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (16 oz.) box confectioners sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9 inch baking dish. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, 1/2 c. butter and 1 egg. Beat a low speed on mixer until combined. Press evenly into bottom of prepared pan; set aside.
Beat cream cheese at medium speed with electric mixer until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually beat in confectioners sugar until smooth. Add remaining melted butter. Stir in coconut and pecans. Pour over cake layer, spreading evenly. Bake 45 minutes (the center should remain slightly gooey). Remove from oven and let cool completely before cutting in squares.
