Aunt Marges Nut Cake with Frosting

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or regular margarine
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. English walnuts or black walnuts,
chopped

Cream sugar, butter and vanilla; add eggs. Add the flour and baking powder, slowly, alternating with the milk. Stir in nuts. Mix well. Grease pans or pan and flour lightly. Bake at 350ยบ for 40 minutes. Check with cake tester for doneness. Makes 2 - 9 inch pans or one 9x13 pan.

9 inch pans require less time.

Butter Cream Frosting
1/3 c., softened margarine
3 c. sifted confectioner's sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream margarine on low for 60 seconds. Add the sugar, salt, milk and vanilla. Make sure all ingredients are moistened, then beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Frost cake.
