Old Fashioned Plum and Nectarine Crumble

4 black plums (about 1 lb.) halved,
pitted and cut in 1/2 thick wedges
3 ripe nectarines (about 1 lb.) halved,
pitted and cut in 1/2 inch wedges
1/2 c. packed light or dark brown sugar
1/3 c. all purpose flour
1/2 stick (1/4 c.) cold butter or
margarine cut in small pieces
3/4 c. uncooked oats (preferably old
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon

Heat oven to 350ยบ. Lightly grease a shallow 2 qt. baking dish. Mix plums and nectarines and spread evenly in prepared baking dish. Mix sugar and flour. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or rub in with fingertips until mixture is crumbly and resembles small peas. Stir in oats. Sprinkle evenly over fruit. Dust with cinnamon. Bake 30-35 minutes until fruit is tender and topping is crisp and lightly browned. Serve warm.
