Fresh Apple Cake w/rum or brandy

1 ½ c. cooking oil
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. rum or brandy
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. apples, peeled and diced
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. dates, chopped

Mix first 5 ingredients. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture. Add apples, nuts and dates. Mix well. Pour into a large greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 ½ hours or until done.
