Monkey Bread

½ c. shortening, melted
½ c. boiling water
½ c. sugar
¾ tsp. salt
1 pkg. dry yeast
½ c. lukewarm water
3 c. flour

Combine shortening, boiling water, sugar and salt in a bowl. Let cool. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; beat egg and add to yeast mixture. Add yeast and shortening mixtures together (be sure shortening mix is cooled to room). Gradually add flour while mixing thoroughly. Cover and let rise 1 hr. Knead dough down. Roll out on floured surface to about ¼ ” thickness. Cut into various shapes. Dip each shape into melted butter and place pieces in a bundt pan. Let rise about 1 hr. n a warm place. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 mins. Cool 5 mins. Turn out on plate.
